Margaret Atwood’s The Testaments, the critically hailed, Booker Prize shortlisted new sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale, became an instant bestseller. Fane Productions presented a unique theatrical event with one of our greatest living writers. Filmed live on the stage of the National Theatre in London, this fascinating event featured a wide-ranging interview with Margaret and striking readings from the new novel performed by actors Ann Dowd, Lily James and Sally Hawkins.

ANNE FRANK PARALLEL STORIES

Produced in cooperation with the Anne Frank Foundation, the event cleverly re-tells the story of Anne Frank’s life through the pages of her diary, guided by Academy-Award winning actress Helen Mirren. Audiences witnessed an exact reconstruction of Anne’s room in Amsterdam, part of the secret annex where the Frank family hid for two years before being discovered and deported to concentration camps. Anne’s writings vividly capture what was happening to a Europe in flames at the time, about Nazism, and her fears, hopes and dreams, and also provides context for understanding our own present and future through the experiences of the survivors who lived to tell their own parallel stories of persecution and deportation.
